Software I use and tech I love

You probably don't care but in case you do, here's a list of the software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

Workstation

  • MacBook Pro M1

I used all kinds of computers over the years but this is the first one that’s made me feel like I’m living in the future. It’s so fast and the battery life is so good that I can’t even remember the last time I had to plug it in.

  • Arzopa Portable Monitor

I don't need something fancy for a second monitor. This one is light, cheap and does the job.

  • Microsoft Mouse

I really like the slick design of the Microsoft Mouse. Someone did consider UX Design on this one.

Development tools

  • Zed

Zed is a fast, simple, and beautiful text editor. Did I mention it’s fast?

  • VS Code

Honestly when I have to do some git surgery or work on a project with a unfamiliar stack, I go the easy route and use VS Code.

  • TablePlus

When you design DB Models for a living, you also need a tool to quickly debug your database. Quick and easy.

Design

  • Figma

I started using Figma back when it was not cool at all. And now it is the number one tool for design. I’m not saying I’m responsible for that but I’m not not saying that either.

  • Affinity Photo

I worked with the Adobe Suite my whole life but I don't subscriptions anymore. Affinity Photo is a great alternative. But Photoshop is still in my memories.

  • Affinity Designer

Same as above. Illustrator it was, but now it's Affinity Designer. Suits my needs and that's what matters.

  • Canva

You know when you need to do something quick and dirty? Canva is my little secret for that.

Coffee ☕

  • Rancilio Silvia v6

Recently I upgradet from Lelit Anna to Rancilio Silvia. And let me say one thing: It's a beast. I love it. The 300mL boiler is a game changer. It heats up pretty fast and when steaming milk it's a dream or a nightmare depending on your skills.

  • Wilfa Uniform Grinder Black Edition

Flat burr grinder with 58mm burrs. It's a great grinder for the price. The only downside is that does not have a stepless adjustment. You need to adjust by coffee weight sometimes. But for me it is enough and it looks really really stylish.

  • Hario V60 & Chemex

Sometimes you need that lightroast fermented filter coffee. And for that I use the Hario V60. I am selling a Chemex if you need it 😅

Productivity

  • Obsidian

For all the local note taking.

  • Notesnook

Notesnook is a privacy alternative for Notion and co. I loved Notion until I realized that it is using all the data to profile it's users. I'm using it for all the cloud note taking. Privacy matters!
